We believe that each of us has a special calling in life, and a series of trials and tests that must be faced with integrity and purpose in order to live a satisfying and fulfilled life. Our mission is to prepare your child for his or her special journey.

You get more signal, not less. Learners track progress against badges in reading, writing, math, and spelling, and you can see that tracking. Every five to six weeks they present their Quest work at a public Exhibition and take questions from adults. And they come home able to explain what they did and why they chose it.

What you give up is the weekly letter grade. Most parents find that harder than their children do. It's the single biggest adjustment families make here.

Children who love to learn, are curious, self-motivated, and respectful. Our environment is an accelerator for the independent learner who can tackle challenging questions, follow instructions, and solve problems.

There are adults in every studio all day: we call them Guides. They don't lecture; they ask questions, hold the standard, and refuse to rescue. Core Skills run on adaptive platforms that adjust to each learner. Everything else is Socratic discussion, peer instruction, and project work.

Our promise at Wonder is to have your child well prepared for any selective university where they can score high enough on a standardized test to gain admittance.

Universities are changing so rapidly that it’s difficult to imagine what a college education will look like in ten years. Unfortunately, many colleges still place a great deal of importance on standardized tests, which are little more than IQ tests, and are difficult to improve on once your child understands basic test taking tricks.

Once your child gets over the test taking barrier at the university of their choice, their portfolio of apprenticeship work and critical thinking skills will be a big boost during the application and interviewing process.

Most importantly, they’ll be well prepared to shine in the real world, whether they choose to go to college full time, part time or not at all.

None. Focused work happens during the school day by design. Evenings belong to family, rest, play, and whatever your child is obsessed with this month.

Learners write and sign a Contract of Promises, and hold each other to it. When someone falls short, the response is reflection and repair rather than punishment from an adult.

It is a system that requires real facilitation to stay constructive, and it's the concern families raise most often about learner-driven schools. We think it's better to say that out loud, show you how we run it, and let you watch it happen on your visit.

Core Skills use adaptive software for roughly two hours in the morning. Afternoons are hands-on, physical, and collaborative: building, making, arguing, presenting. One of the studio promises is to use technology with purpose and focus.

A 10-month calendar, August through May. The year is built from seven 4-to-6 week Quest sessions — Rockets, Robots, Medical Biology, Detective Chemistry, etc. — each ending in a public Exhibition, with 1 to 2 weeks off between sessions. The flexibility lets families travel together without sacrificing learning.

We are currently hosting school at the AdventHealth Sports Park at BluHawk for the Fall 2026.

We plan on moving to our renovated location at 13611 Washington Street in South Kansas City in late 2026.
